Under a consortium led by the University of Tokyo Biodesign and the National Cancer Center Hospital East, this program is Japan’s leading initiative for supporting the establishment of startups by researchers. Our team, composed of members with diverse expertise in medicine, engineering, and business, provides essential support for the development of health-tech products and services needed in clinical settings. We also foster researchers to become business leaders, match talent to resources, and assist with financing support, thereby accelerating the growth of health-tech startups originating from academica to compete on a global scale.
“NEXT BIODESIGN” Consortium for Development of Next Generation Health Tech Startups

Development support, Training programs, Human resource matching, and Financing support
We have established a startup support consortium in collaboration with domestic and international organizations, companies, and experts, including networks in Silicon Valley. For entrepreneurs, we provide financing knowledge, technical support, executive talent matching, and financing support to enable efficient business development that ensures steady and smooth progress toward commercialization.
We primarily focus on developing event programs. As a medical device-focused incubator with expertise in long-term, hands-on consulting and practical support aimed at commercialization, we provide researchers with strategic planning, the creation of actionable roadmaps, and execution support.
As a central advisory body within this consortium, we engage in comprehensive needs assessments across diverse disease areas and facilitate clinical research in collaboration with the National Center. With a focus on the later stages of medical device development, we provide rigorous support for researchers in areas such as regulatory strategy and clinical development, fostering advancements in academic and translational research.
We lead the way in building a health tech ecosystem. With extensive experience in supporting startups and practical business, our team provides comprehensive mentoring. Leveraging our unique network in Silicon Valley, we offer hands-on, tailored support in entrepreneurial training programs, assistance with prototype development, talent matching, and financing support.
We provide mentoring in development strategies and support for prototype creation with a view toward medical device commercialization. Our services include basic education on development, exploration of core technologies, matching support with prototyping companies and talent, and advice on conducting non-clinical (exploratory) trials.
